Provincial Park Update – Woods Travel Restrictions

Provincial Park Update – Woods Travel Restrictions

August 29, 2025

Woods restrictions lifted in some counties
The restrictions on travel and activities in the woods are lifted for Halifax Regional Municipality, and the counties of Antigonish, Cape Breton, Guysborough, Inverness, Richmond, and Victoria.

Provincial parks and wooded trails in the above areas will reopen today at 4:00 pm.

Woods restrictions remain in place in other counties
The restrictions remain in place in all other areas of the province because continued hot, dry conditions have greatly increased the risk of wildfires.

People can still access beaches and parks, but trail systems are off limits. Camping is allowed in provincial park campgrounds. There is a province-wide ban on open fires which means campfires are prohibited until further notice. Gas stoves and barbeques can be used for cooking. Charcoal barbeques are permitted with charcoal only. Portable lanterns are permitted.

The following provincial parks are closed because they primarily offer a wooded trail experience:

  • Camerons Brook, Queens County
  • Cape Chignecto, Cumberland County
  • Cape Split, Kings County
  • Card Lake, Lunenburg County
  • Central Grove, Digby County
  • Chebogue Meadows, Yarmouth County
  • Clairmont, Kings County
  • Coldbrook, Kings County
  • Mickey Hill, Annapolis County
  • Port L’Hebert, Queens County
  • Second Peninsula, Lunenburg County
  • Ten Mile Lake, Queens County
  • Wenztells Lake, Lunenburg County
