We continue to assess storm damage at our provincial parks. We are reopening them as it is safe to do so.
 
On September 18th, the following camping parks reopened:
-- Battery, Richmond County 
-- Blomidon, Kings County 
-- Caribou-Munroes Island, Pictou County 
-- Ellenwood Lake, Yarmouth County 
-- Mira River, Cape Breton County 
-- Porters Lake, Halifax Regional Municipality 
-- Valleyview, Annapolis County 
-- Whycocomagh, Inverness County
 
On September 19th, the following camping parks will reopen by 2:00 p.m.: 
-- Amherst Shore, Cumberland County 
-- Cape Chignecto, Cumberland County
-- Dollar Lake. Halifax Regional Municipality 
-- Five Islands, Colchester County 
-- Graves Island, Lunenburg County 
 
At the following camping parks, cleanup work is ongoing and they remain closed until further notice: 
-- The Islands, Shelburne County 
-- Thomas Raddall, Queens County  
-- Rissers Beach, Lunenburg County 
 
At Rissers Beach, the day-use beach area is also closed until further notice.  North Rissers (campsites 58 – 91) will remain closed until at least September 22nd. Little Rissers (campsites 1 – 57) sustained considerable damage and will remain closed indefinitely.
 
The majority of day-use parks and beaches are able to reopen with some exceptions. Martinique Beach and Queensland Beach remained closed until further notice due to significant storm damage. The boardwalk at MacCormacks Beach and Crystal Crescent Beach were significantly damaged however the parks have reopened.
